The Stranglers - Live at the Hope and Anchor, 1977 (12-Inch Album)
The Stranglers’ live at the Hope and Anchor pub, in Islington, North London, on 22 November 1977.
Captured at the legendary Hope & Anchor pub in Islington, North London, this historic live recording finds The Stranglers returning to one of the venues that helped establish their reputation. Recorded on the opening night of the celebrated Front Row Festival, a series of concerts held between November and December 1977, the event brought together artists associated with the famous pub venue in support of a much-loved live music location that was under threat.
This performance captures the band during their explosive early punk-era rise, just weeks after the release of their second album, No More Heroes.
Featuring the classic line-up of Hugh Cornwell, JJ Burnel, Dave Greenfield and Jet Black, this release delivers a powerful selection of fan favourites, including No More Heroes, Peaches, Hanging Around, Walk On By, Straighten Out and London Lady.
