The Red Hot Chili Peppers brought their explosive funk-rock sound to Club Citta in Kawasaki, Japan, on 26 January 1990, during their first-ever Japanese tour. Fresh from the release of their fifth studio album, Mother’s Milk, the band were at the height of their raw, energetic early period, with Anthony Kiedis, Flea, John Frusciante and Chad Smith delivering a ferocious performance packed with funk, punk and psychedelic rock. 

The set featured a thrilling mixture of Mother’s Milk favourites including Stone Cold Bush, Subway to Venus, Knock Me Down, and Magic Johnson alongside older classics. With Frusciante’s fiery guitar work, Flea’s unmistakable bass playing and the relentless rhythm section of Smith and Kiedis, this Kawasaki performance captures the Chili Peppers at a hugely exciting moment in their evolution.
