AC/DC History

AC/DC History
AC/DC formed in Sydney, Australia in 1973, founded by brothers Angus and Malcolm Young. Their stripped-back, high-voltage sound combined blues rock, hard rock and raw stage energy, creating one of the most recognisable styles in rock history.

The band’s early years were defined by the unmistakable voice and wild charisma of Bon Scott. Albums such as High Voltage, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, Let There Be Rock, Powerage and Highway to Hell helped establish AC/DC as one of the most exciting rock bands of the 1970s.

After Bon Scott’s death in 1980, Brian Johnson joined the band and AC/DC released Back in Black, a powerful tribute that became one of the best-selling albums ever made. With tracks including Hells Bells, Shoot to Thrill and You Shook Me All Night Long, the album turned AC/DC into global rock giants.

Across decades of touring and recording, AC/DC have remained true to their sound: huge riffs, pounding drums, unforgettable choruses and Angus Young’s iconic lead guitar. Their vinyl records remain highly collectible, especially limited edition pressings, coloured vinyl releases and live recordings from across their career.
